One of these photography students will receive €35,000

The World Photography Organisation revealed the names of the 10 finalists of the Student Focus competition, which is part of the Sony World Photography Awards and hopes to ‘inspire future generations of photographers’. The list includes 10 photography students (from 230 institutions worldwide) that are now competing for photographic equipment worth €32,000. The category Student Focus allows for ‘the growth of the professional and contacts network’ as well as offering a variety of competitions, tutorials and opportunities’ to a group of talented emerging photographers who want to become professional’. ‘Many of the previous finalists are now working on a regular basis in the photographic industry’, affirms the organisation. This year’s theme was ‘The Morning News’. The group of finalists was later asked for a new set of photographs with an underlying theme of ‘self-portrait’. The winner will be announced on the 30 April.
