Breast cancer betrayed Bob Carey’s wife, Linda, twice. Firstly in 2003. Then, stealthily, in 2006. Againts the darkness that engulfed their lives, Bob Carey dressed up in pink. In a tutu – only a tutu -, the 51 year old man strolled through the most varied and unusual places and photographed himself. A 90-kilo man waering a tutu would be enough to make us smile, but that is not even the best part. Bob Carey stripped himself of all preconceptions to fight against breast cancer and the money collected from The Tutu Project will go directly to the Carey Foundation, which supports woman who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. The next objective is to raise 75 000 dollars (about 58 000 euros) from the book ‘Ballerina’, which consists of 61 images and several stories with e great deal of humour. Because laughing, state the couple, can actually be the best medicine: ‘Curiously, Linda’s cancer taught us that, even though life is good, dealing with it might be difficult and, at times, the best thing – in fact, the only thing – that we can do to get by day-to-day is to laugh at ourselves and share laughter with others.’
