Estão entregues os prémios mais importantes da indústria americana da música, na 59.ª edição dos Grammys. A grande vencedora da noite foi a artista britânica Adele, que venceu as cinco categorias para as quais estava nomeada: Álbum do Ano, Canção do Ano, Melhor Álbum Pop Vocal, Gravação do ano e Melhor Performance Pop.

Enquanto aceitava o prémio de Melhor Álbum do Ano, Adele elogiou Lemonade de Beyoncé, um dos nomeados para a mesma categoria. "O álbum Lemonade é tão monumental, tão bem pensado, tão bonito e tão próximo à alma, e conseguimos ver um outro lado teu que nem sempre nos deixas ver e apreciamos isso", sublinhou a britânica. "A forma como me fazes sentir, a mim e aos meus amigos, como fazes com que os meus amigos negros se sintam, é fortalecedora e fazes com que eles se defendam", elogiou a cantora, referindo-se ao mais recente álbum de Beyoncé, com uma forte mensagem política e social e considerado a obra da sua carreira. "E eu adoro-te. Sempre te adorei. E sempre irei adorar", concluiu, emocionada, a vencedora da noite.

Com os mais recentes cinco prémios, a artista britânica de 28 anos soma agora 15 Grammys, tornando-se a primeira pessoa na história dos prémios norte-americanos a vencer as três principais distinções duas vezes. Em 2012 conquistou também Melhor Álbum do Ano, Canção do Ano e Gravação do Ano, com o álbum 21, lembra a Reuters.

Das nove categorias para as quais estava nomeada, Beyoncé venceu duas: Melhor Álbum Urbano e Melhor Videoclip, com a música Formation. No momento em que recebeu o prémio de Melhor Álbum Urbano, Beyoncé sublinhou que a sua intenção foi "criar um trabalho que desse voz à nossa dor, às nossas lutas, ao lado negro da nossa vida e à nossa história". A cantora de Hold Up subiu ao palco para interpretar Love Drought e Sandcastles.

David Bowie foi outro dos vencedores da noite. O artista britânico que morreu em 2016 tinha nomeações póstumas para Melhor Performance Rock, Melhor Canção de Rock e Melhor Álbum Alternativo. Venceu as três categorias.

O prémio de Melhor Álbum R&B foi para Lalah Hathaway e o melhor Álbum Rap para Chance the Rapper, com Coloring Book, que conquistou também o prémio de Artista Revelação. Já no Rock, o melhor álbum foi Tell Me I'm Pretty com Cage The Elephant.

Na cerimónia no Staples Center de Los Angeles foram ainda homenageados George Michael e Prince, pelas vozes de Adele e Bruno Mars, respectivamente.
