Guerra dos Tronos cumpriu as expectativas criadas pelo frenesim em torno dos televisores e vários ecrãs, visionamentos legais e downloads ilegais – e juntou-se a outros títulos do canal de televisão por subscrição HBO para tornar 2015 no ano em que obteve maior número de nomeações, 126.

A série de fantasia tem por base os livros de George R.R.
